Purpose

I always prided myself on being a “jane of all trades” but I’m starting to feel pretty bad about being a master of none 🙁 . I loved the free eBook about finding the business of your dreams and I’ve taken some time to compile a list of things I love and hate.  Watching the women in Module 1 talk about finding their unique superpower is challenging.  I feel like I have no talent.  How do I find something I’m good at that makes me money from home?

Zoe – this is a great question and one that every mom – whether working or SAHM asks herself.  My suggestion is to think about what makes you happiest.  For me, it’s writing and running a business.  If I can work all day writing and promoting education – I’m so happy.  That’s why I build MomsWearCapes!  Another thing I love to do is “connect people”.  I could walk around my town all day putting people in touch with one another to help each other – and I love promoting my friends.  Therefore, I’ve taken an advisory role at a local ad agency where I can connect people with a place to promote their businesses constantly – and make awesome commission!  What makes you happiest?  Makeup?  Legal work?  Childcare?  You need to figure out what you love to do the most, then you’ll have to do the REALLY hard part: forget everything else.  I’m creative, but I refuse to do design for my businesses because it isn’t the best use of my time.  I do some work on Canva but for the high level stuff I always hire out.  Learning photoshop or something is not the best use of my time.  Also – find out what you would do in the morning even if you didn’t get paid.  Is it skiing?  Swimming?  You can instruct even in these things. If you hone it what you love to do more than anything in the world, find people who don’t do it as well as you and tell everybody you know that you’re now providing private coaching in that area.  What do you love?  Let’s keep chatting about this!  Hugs, Steph
